What is a computer? Since when do we know computers? A computer is basically a device which simplifies our tasks at hand and does computing or processing which is either beyond human control or too cumbersome to do. Computers have been in use for several decades now with the first one actually just being a calculator. Today the definition of the word computer has really changed with it becoming a tool for entertainment, communication and an essential necessity for various aspects of life.
Today computers are available in various forms and across different budgets. Computers, laptops, palm tops, advanced cell phone: all these are forms of computers. Then Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, such majors have entered the market that there is something for everyone, something he wants and not merely something he is in need of. From a sub 500$ computer to a millions of dollar super PC, everything is available now, and available rather easily.
Computers have become a part of our life, an essence of life. We can’t live without email, be it for communication or for browsing over the internet or just paying our bills online, life would be at a standstill had there been no internet. The computer offers a very useless service by the name of internet and it is really productive for people too. We can join online forms and participate our minds out. Students can nowadays earn big money with websites where work is outsourced or enjoy add revenue from biggies like Google Adsense. The computers have changed the way the world works, the way we live, who we are and what we want to do in life. Computers have indeed revolutionized life.
Computers also provide games, really hi fi and hardcore ones at that with often hefty system requirements which need special computer parts for best operation. So kids and even adults now are more and more often found addicted to computer games and can’t afford to miss even a single computer part upgrade. This is the impact computers have on masses. Now I am sure nothing before in human history has even had this kind of an impact, I am sure. Don’t you think so?
Computers are the essence of life, I repeat. There would be no life had computers been removed from the earth. Besides, computers play a major role in scientific work and research. They act as super computers which extra fast computing and calculation speed which has special applications in mathematics and astronomy as well.
